This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected when you visit this website, make an enquiry or engage in counselling services with CONSIDERED.

Information we may collect

When you contact CONSIDERED or engage in counselling, we may collect information including:

  • your name and contact details

  • information you provide through an enquiry or contact form

  • information relevant to arranging and providing counselling services

  • billing and payment information

  • counselling notes and other records relating to our work together

  • information you choose to share during counselling

We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide counselling and manage the professional relationship with you.

How your information is used

Your personal information may be used to:

  • respond to enquiries

  • arrange and manage appointments

  • provide counselling services

  • communicate with you about your appointments or counselling

  • maintain appropriate professional and clinical records

  • process payments and meet accounting requirements

  • meet professional, ethical and legal obligations

Your personal information will not be sold or used for unrelated marketing purposes without your consent.

Confidentiality and counselling

Confidentiality is an important part of the counselling relationship.

What you discuss in counselling is treated as confidential and will not ordinarily be shared with other people without your knowledge or consent.

There are, however, circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be limited or information disclosed. These may include situations where:

  • there is a serious or imminent risk of harm to you or another person

  • there are concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person

  • disclosure is required by law or by a court

  • disclosure is otherwise necessary to meet professional or ethical obligations

Where it is safe and appropriate to do so, I would normally seek to discuss the situation with you before disclosing information.

The limits of confidentiality will also be discussed as part of our counselling agreement when we begin working together.

Professional supervision

As part of ethical counselling practice, I undertake regular professional supervision.

Aspects of counselling work may be discussed with my professional supervisor to support safe and effective practice. Wherever practicable, identifying information is not used.

Professional supervisors are themselves bound by confidentiality and professional obligations.

Counselling records

Appropriate records may be kept in relation to counselling sessions.

These records are stored securely and access is restricted. Records are retained only for as long as required for professional, ethical and legal purposes and are then securely destroyed.

Email and online communication

If you contact CONSIDERED by email or through the website, please be aware that electronic communication cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Please avoid including highly sensitive personal or clinical information in an initial website enquiry. We can discuss confidential matters more appropriately once contact has been established.

Sharing your information

Personal information will not ordinarily be shared with third parties unless:

  • you have given permission

  • it is necessary for the provision or administration of a service you have requested

  • there is a relevant safety or confidentiality exception as described above

  • disclosure is required or permitted by law

Where third-party services are used for functions such as website hosting, email, appointment management or accounting, reasonable care is taken in selecting services that provide appropriate privacy and security protections.
