About Vic
I’m interested in what sits underneath the way we live our lives.
Why we respond the way we do. Why we can understand something perfectly well intellectually and still find it difficult to change. And what happens when the life we’ve carefully constructed no longer quite fits.
My approach is thoughtful, curious and collaborative. I won’t tell you what you should do or assume that I understand your life better than you.
I’ll listen carefully, ask questions and sometimes notice patterns or contradictions that are harder to see when you’re in the middle of your own life.
There may be humor. There may be discomfort. There may be things that take time to understand.
The purpose isn’t to produce a better version of you. It’s to help you understand yourself more fully, so the choices you make about your life are genuinely your own.
My professional background
I have completed four years of counseling training, including three years of clinical placements at Petersgate Counseling Centre and Canterbury Men’s Centre where I have worked with clients across a wide range of experiences, including relationships and separation, grief and loss, stress and overwhelm, burnout, family dynamics, neurological diversity, confidence, depression and anxiety, work and career, and periods of significant life change.
Throughout my training and clinical placements, I have worked under regular professional supervision, developing a thoughtful and relational approach to counseling that respects individuals experiences and circumstances.
Alongside my counseling work, I bring many years of professional experience working with people in organisations, particularly around relationships, work and change.
My practice is supported by ongoing professional supervision and professional development. I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and practice in accordance with its Code of Ethics.
If you're considering counselling and wondering whether we might work well together, you’re welcome to get in touch.
